Just have bought new laptop running Vista. Previously have used XP. With XP, when I opened a URL, I could drag it across to a dropdown menu on the extreme right hand side of the Google tool bar, just beneath the "Settings" button. With Vista there is no such dropdown menu available. Very grateful for any suggestions as to how I could set one up.

can anyone help me ? i have a vista quadcore pc ,a xbox 360 . and i am attempting to set up a wired ethernet network using a netgear gigabit 5 port switch.

I am having loads of problems , first whem i open media centre and try to set up an extender i put the code in from the xbox then get the message extender not found.

On my xbox if i try to find my pc it says your console didn’t obtain an ip address from your dchp server

If i go into networking my xbox is shown along with my pc

all lights are on on the switch

I am going bald very quickly any help would be most appreciated.:confused:

Hi guys my net was really fast when running xp before I put on vista and now its taking agees for pages to load and im constantly refreshing them if not waiting for them to load not the 1 sec to load that it used to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

I have 3 laptops ( 1 XP and 2 Vista). they are networked wirelessley using a dlink adsl modem/router. when i try to access another workgrouped pc from a vista machine, a dialog box appears asking for a username and password. This, however does not happen when i access the other two from the xp machine. Can anyone help?

Under XP we used MYCOMPUTER to see network places, which allowed me to see the share files on the server. I can do this under the open file function in most applications, allows me to access the shared docs in XP. But on our new laptop with Vista we can access the network and printers, but can’t see the shared folders in the applicatinos or Explorer. I thought there was a way to display the workgroup but cant find it.

I do alot of work from home and use multiple computers at my desk. To make life a bit easier, I use a software product called Synergy to share my keyboard and mouse across a network. Recently I’ve had to start using a VPN to connect to another network and once I fire that up, I lost my connection to synergy (probably due to the VPN tunnel shutting off access to my local network). So, here’s my question. With a second network card installed in each of my 2 machines, would it be possible to setup a permanent static route with a separate network between the two computers to keep a live connection even after I start the VPN?

just recently upgraded(perhaps i should say downgraded?) to Vista Home Premium and ever since i have been having a hella hard time getting programs to connect to the internet i.e. McAfee iv been trying to install the new version thats compatable with vista but after i download the download manager for McAfee it pops up a window when i try to run it saying that the "download manager is unable to access the internet. connect to the internet and then click retry". im obviously connected to the internet or else i wouldnt be posting this right now and also i wouldnt have been able to download it as well. ive had this problem with a few other things as well like Azureus.

if anyone needs to know i am running a router, linksys wireless, but im currently connected via cat-5 cable, and yes ive tried running it connected both wirelessly and wired to the router, i can access the internet with internet explorer but certain programs wont work.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

hopefully someone can shed some light on this situation ive been having, and pulling my hair out in the process :P

i have an acer aspire 5630 notebook and have reciently purchased a dynex firewire notebook card to use. every time I install this card into the cardbus the wireless drops the connection right away and cant find any networks again until I remove the card and reboot… I know this card works under XP and im assuming im just not setting something properly? any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
